Skincare Vol.1 ~of many? Who knows ~

My skin overall is pretty good. But it wasn't always. When I was in school I had these weird bumps that covered (and I mean covered) my forehead. They weren't whiteheads or blackheads, they weren't sore or red, they were literally just bumps. And I hated them. I tried literally everything to get rid of them from topical creams to roll on gels to the standard spot cream you get from Superdrug and smearing it all over my face. Nothing really worked.

When I went on the combined pill however, like some crazy miracle cure, they all went away pretty fast! That was when I was about 16, so since then as you can imagine, I've been pretty reluctant to come off the pill in case those bumps returned. But late last October I decided I needed a break, and so did my poor menstrual cycle (Sorry boo) and came off it.

It's coming up to the end of the third month when all the hormones are supposedly meant to have fully left your body and (thank the gods) my skin seems to be staying clear. So I thought I'd throw in the products I've been using to keep it this way so maybe they could help some of you too.

Morning:

Tone: Pixi Glow Tonic - £18.00

Moisturise: Light Touch Naked Facial Oil from Lush - £9.95

I'm trying to steer away from plastic in my skincare routine, as well as making sure everything is always cruelty free. Finding the Friendly Soap was an actual dream. It comes in cardboard packaging which is completely recyclable and is the cheapest cleanser I think I have ever owned in my life. When I first used it, the instant squeaky clean feeling freaked me out but then, BUT THEN, my skin went baaaaaby soft. To the point I kept making my boyfriend touch my cheeks. What a gem.

I'm sure you've heard every beauty guru and their mum raving about Pixi Glow Tonic, so I won't go on about it. This is the only exfoliant in my skincare routine and it makes my skin super glowy. 'Nuff said.

As a former Lush employee, I will never shake my love of their products. Loved them before, love em now. But their huge move towards plastic free has been a dream, especially these moisturisers. Okay, technically it's listed as a facial oil but I've found that if you apply it sparingly, Light Touch makes a perfect daytime moisturiser for my skin. Plus, for cruelty free, plastic free and the longevity, I feel like £9.95 ain't too bad!

Evening

Cleanse: The Friendly Soap Shea Butter Facial Cleansing Bar - £2.62

Tone: Breath of Fresh Air from Lush - £11.50

Moisturise: Face Oil from Fat and The Moon - About £17 (It's an American company so I used currency converter)

Breath of Fresh Air has been my toner since I was 16, and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon. Gentle but refreshing, and as Lush put it best " The sea breeze captured in a bottle".

I realise that facial oils are pricy, but this brand, THIS BRAND. They are a small business in California that make all their products by hand. They are cruelty free, they are natural, founded by a strong ass witch woman, Rachel Budde, they basically call out to my crazy inner witch who wants to hoard all of their products, and yes I mean all of them. Full of all the good things you can read about on their website, my skin has never thanked me more.

(Plus if you are a Falmouth native, they sell Fat and The Moon in The Vintage Warehouse. You're welcome.)

If you have any skincare questions, please feel free to ask me. As my poor boyfriend will know, I love skincare and l literally made a routine for him without asking.

Once again, you're welcome.
